Best scissor for a preschooler

If you want to start letting your preschooler learn to handle a scissor, it would be a lot easier when you have the right scissor to begin with.

I first notice that stores try to market ALL scissors as the best school scissors, yet there is different shapes and sizes available.

For instance have a look at the 3 scissors below:

Each of these scissor look very similar. The red scissor has plastic blades that can only cut paper, which at first seems the safest but in school we use scissors on all kinds of materialswhich this scissor will not be able to do.

The blue scissor does have steel blades that can cut everything but if you look at the handle portion it is very difficult for a preschooler to cut using only two fingers-thumb and forefinger.

The green scissor is almost what you are looking for, the blade is correct as well as the handle has space for the thumb on one side and 2 to 3 fingers on the other side. This scissor will be fine for a preschooler to begin cutting with .

This is actually the ideal scissors that you would want to buy for your learner:

These scissors help the child to be able to open up the scissors for the next cut.
And as a Foundation Phase teacher, this is the biggest struggle for little hands.

So there you have it. The best scissor to buy for your preschooler.

What scissor does your preschooler prefer?

Pre-writing Activities

When we started on handwriting I had a hard time finding a book that we could use in our homeschool. I turned to the internet only to find a page here and there. This is the pages I gathered to use with my 3 yo doing preschool.

I printed and laminated them. You could also just put it in a page protector or a Bantex pouch.
We use dry-erase marker on them to practice our handwriting.
Please go visit this website (jadyalvarez.com) for some free Pre-writing mats.

Jakkals en wolf – Ek lees self reeks- "Review"

AFRIKAANSE ARTIKEL
